The Canvas Café is going up! Glamping and café life in the East Midlands.

The Canvas Café is underway!

Last week saw the diggers on site and the stone being laid. It is so exciting to see our dream of a unique country café finally coming to life. A dream based on the love of good food and good company. It has been years in the planning and has been a key element in the vision for Country Bumpkin Yurts since the very beginning. Despite delays in getting started (turns out this is inevitable with building work), we’re aiming for an August launch.

We have always wanted to create a café experience that is different. One that is in tune with the world around it. What could be more unique than a café under canvas on a working farm in the East Midlands countryside? It takes what is great about café culture – the coming together of ideas and people over good food and drink – and combines it with The Great Outdoors.

The Canvas Café is going up! Glamping and café life in the East Midlands.

The Canvas Café will provide glampers with catered options for their yurt holiday and provide everyone else the chance to pop in for some tasty food and drink. We hope to use our funky venue for events and hire too, so watch this space for upcoming workshops or food nights.

With it being set on Waterloo Cottage Farm, you’ll experience the real deal when it comes to farm life. The sights, sounds, (and occasional smells), of a working farm will certainly make it an interesting café experience. At different times of the year, you’ll meet free-range pigs, highland cows, and sheep. And all year, the farm dogs may pop by to say hello. You’ll also be able to buy from Waterloo Cottage Farm Shop when you come to visit. That’s lunch and coffee sorted at the Canvas Café, then dinner sorted using the food from the farm shop. Check. And check.

Our Country Bumpkin Heart

The café is an essential part of Country Bumpkin Yurts and exists with the same ethos of looking after people and the environment. We strive to be an ethical company and the café will incorporate this into how it runs. In our efforts to look after you and the earth, we will strive to use as many organic, free range, local and sustainable ingredients in our food. We are working through our plans and products so that everything from what we clean the floor with, to how we store our food, has as little impact on the environment as possible. Everything helps.

Whilst the diggers are doing their thing, we are finalising our Canvas Cafe menu and starting to look for new members to join our staff team. Yesterday we were tea-tasting and next week we’ll be bread tasting. We love this part of the job! We’ll let you know how we get on.

Over the next few weeks, we’d love your input for our menu. You can email us your favourite recipes or tips and tricks for the kitchen. Would you like to be the first to hear about our launch date? By signing up to our newsletter via this link you will get a FREE gift pack with a notepad and vouchers from our wonderful suppliers. It’s a nice way to keep in the loop on Country Bumpkin life.

We hope to see you at the Canvas Café soon!
