How to find us – A guide to our Northamptonshire/Leicestershire location

A guide to finding Canvas Cafe and Country Bumpkin Yurts, located on the border of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire, near the town of Market Harborough.

We often get questions asking how you can find us, and we will admit, it can be a little tricky for newcomers to spot as we are nestled away from both road and path.

Fancy a walk?

Via the Brampton Valley way

walk to Canvas CafeWe are within walking distance from a number of villages and the town of Market Harborough (2 miles). Dogs are welcome, so if your pup is keen for a long walk, bring them along.

You can reach us via the Brampton Valley Way, which can be joined from a number of locations including Market Harborough, Kelmarsh, Arthingworth or even Northampton if you’re up for the tackling the 14-mile disused rail trail. More information and a detailed map of the route can be found for download here.

If you are joining the Brampton Valley way walk in Market Harborough, the entrance can be found on the corner of Scotland Road and Northampton Road, or follow the path behind the Cinnamon Lounge to the right. This is a lovely gentle walk as it is flat and paved the entire way. Follow the path for a couple of miles until you reach the sign announcing ‘Oxendon Tunnel ahead’. Instead of following the path towards the tunnel, follow the route for “walkers only detour via public footpath to Gt. Oxendon” and turn right in the direction of the arrow. If you reach the tunnels you have gone too far!

Brampton Valley Way
The walk gets a little muddy at this point and looks as though you may be about to embark on some off-roading, but don’t panic, you are in fact
following a public footpath and heading in the right direction. The path heads slightly uphill via a number of steps and then plateaus, keep following this until you get to a slight split in the path, at this point you should be able to peep our sign, over a fence to your right. Open the gate and follow the path, along the left side of the yurts towards the Canvas Café, you should see the marquee popping its head up, make sure you keep an eye out for some of the friendly farm animals who live nearby on your way.

By Car

From Leicestershire

Head out of Market Harborough along the Northampton Road/Harborough Road (A508), in the direction of Northampton. Keep going until you reach the road sign for Great Oxendon, you should then see our Canvas Café flag, flapping away a little after the road sign.

From Northamptonshire

You can reach us from the A14, exit at junction 2 (signposted A508 Mkt Harboro’, Northampton). Or from Northampton join the A508 leaving Kingsthorpe.

Follow signs for A508 Market Harborough until you reach Great Oxendon. Keep following the A508 through Great Oxendon, you will pass “The George”  pub/restaurant on your right and we are situated 120 metres beyond the pub, before exiting the village.

Once you see our turning, turn between the two large tractor wheels turned flower beds. Keep driving passed our lovely neighbours, Waterloo Cottage Farm Shop, and towards the Canvas Café and yurts. We have parking onsite, just in front of the Canvas Café for all of our visitors and guests.
