Summer is a great time for Glamping in the East Midlands!
There is so much going on in the area. Market Harborough and the surrounding towns, villages and cities are a hive of activity. Whether you are visiting for a mini-break or long holiday, there are loads of things to do when glamping in the East Midlands.
What’s been happening?
Harborough by the sea took place a few weeks ago.
This great family event involved bringing the ‘seaside’ to the centre of Market Harborough. They had giant sandpits, live music, a classic car show, entertainment, loads of activities, and food and drink. They even had a vintage theme across all 4 days of the event, with the clock turned back to the 50s and 60s. It was such great fun! The town was full of people enjoying themselves. One of the reasons we love living in a small town is the sense of community and the amazing atmosphere when everyone comes together. Harborough by the sea created just that. Did you go along?
Wistow Maze opened for the summer.
To mark the 130th Anniversary since the first Sherlock Holmes novel was written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Wistow Maze has been designed in the shape of Sherlock himself, with a ‘Whodunnit’ themed Quiz Trail hidden amongst the 3 miles of pathways. Set in 8 acres of living maize and sunflower crop, it’s great exercise for mind and body. With high level bridges and viewing towers giving stunning panoramic views, it’s a great experience. Our friends went along with their little family and loved it! They recommend taking wellies if it has been raining recently (as it had when they went). We highly recommend going along.
What’s coming up?

Shambala Festival 24th-27th August
Shambala is a fantastic festival which takes place just down the road from us at Country Bumpkin Yurts. The variety and quality of entertainment on offer is staggering for a festival of its size. With over 200 diverse musical acts across 12 live stages, world-class cabaret, an amazing array of workshops, stand-up comedy, inspirational talks and debates, jaw dropping circus and acrobatics, interactive theatre and nationally acclaimed poetry all housed in beautifully decorated venues. This is a fantastic event! Well done if you managed to get tickets before they sold out.
Hallatonfest 24th-27th August
Hallatonfest is in the beautiful village of Hallaton in rural Leicestershire, not far from us. The festival is an affordable 3-day family event that aims to bring you the best new and upcoming bands plus some excellent tribute acts. This will be a great local festival to go to! And why not book overnight with us so you don’t have to deal with festival camping.
Arts Fresco – 10th September
Often described as a ‘mini Fringe festival’, Market Harborough’s Arts Fresco is a free street theatre festival, that for one day every September, transforms the town centre into the biggest street arts festival in the Midlands. This gets bigger and better every year! We have been along each year without fail. There are always fun and quirky things happening. Last year, my friend’s car got blocked in by a giant hippo – now that doesn’t happen every day! For more info click here.
The East Midlands is such a great area for events! And guess what…Glamping in yurts adds to what’s on too. There is so much to experience, it simply can’t be done in just one day. To make the most of these events, festivals, and attractions, why not try glamping in the East Midlands too. Check out our availability calendar here, then book, book, book. We’d hate for you to miss out!
