Waterloo Cottage Farm Shop

Waterloo Cottage Farm in Great Oxendon, Leicestershire, was established as a unique modern business which goes back in time. Run by Kirsty and Angus, they farm ethically and sustainably. Their cattle, sheep and pigs contain no antibiotics, are completely free range, slow grown, and care is given to what they eat to enhance the flavour and nutritional content of the meat. They can assure customers that meat coming from their fields straight onto their table is natural, completely traceable and tasty, sourced from animals fed on food that their bodies are designed for, eating grass and not grain. You’ll see this when staying in your yurt – they’ll be frolicking in the next field!

Kirsty and Angus are passionate about re-educating us all on how to produce great food and radically reduce the use of chemicals and medicines in the food chain. They do this by inviting people onto their land and into their shop to learn farming, butchery and cooking techniques. One of their most popular workshops is sausage making. Visit their ‘experiences’ page or get in touch about booking this whilst you stay at Country Bumpkin Yurts… You’ll be laughing as you learn.

You’ll see the Farm Shop on your left as you enter the site at Country Bumpkin Yurts. It’s the best place to pick up all food items you need for your stay. They sell; organic pasture fed beef, pasture fed lamb and hogget, totally free-range pork, totally free-range chicken, their own air-dried charcuterie and pies and a wonderful selection of local beers, wines and spirits. They also have bread, eggs, ready meals, and a selection of other local food items.

We highly recommend their sausages, burgers and steaks for your BBQ!

When you book with us, you can select foodie extras to be ready for collection at the farm shop. Contact us if you want to add these to a booking you have already made.

Kirsty can also cook you some hot meals to enjoy during your stay (her roast chicken and pulled pork are to die for!). Simply go into the shop and have a chat with Kirsty.
