On 11th June 2017, Country Bumpkin Yurts opened it’s doors to the wonderful public.
We invited everyone to see what we had been up to and to raise a glass of bubbly (or a cup of tea) to celebrate being open for bookings. Glamping in the Midlands was finally ready. We teamed up with Waterloo Cottage Farm and Open Farm Sunday to create a day out with lots of activities, fun, and food.
The day was a great success!
We were so encouraged by the turnout. Around 500 people came along! To be honest, this was far more than we expected so we were over the moon. The glorious weather helped. We loved sharing our story with so many people. And we especially enjoyed showing everyone our beautiful yurts.

Loved ones
On a personal note, Lara and I were pleasantly overwhelmed by the support from friends, family and local suppliers in the run-up to and during the event. Country Bumpkin Yurts exists because of the support from family and friends; we would not have been able to keep going without their help. We were delighted to have our family and friends at the launch event to see how their help has paid off.
Families, nature, and children
One of our reasons for setting up a yurt glamping site was to help people get back to nature when they go on holiday. During the glamping launch, we spoke with loads of families who were passionate about their children connecting with nature. It was great to share this interest with them. To hear them say that our posh camping site was the perfect setting in the East Midlands to do this was very heartening.
Yurt love
Overhearing all the positive comments about our luxury yurts gave us a massive boost! We are so happy with the Yurt Maker and his fantastic yurts. And it turned out that you were all happy with them too. We love people’s reactions when the see the yurts and that little gasp of surprise when they walk in and see how fresh, spacious, and beautiful they are.
Announcing the winner of the competition
The best highlight for us was announcing the winner of our free weekend stay giveaway. Over the past few months, we ran a competition on our Facebook page where people were asked to like and share our post for a chance to win a free stay at Country Bumpkin Yurts. Towards the end of the launch day, Lara and I took ourselves away and randomly selected the winner. The winner was Ann Jones! Congratulations to her and those she will be bringing with her on the weekend away in a yurt. Ann is delighted to have won and cannot wait to come.
