So you’ve been appointed as maid of honour and tasked with coming up with hen party ideas and planning the hen do. That is a lot of pressure in itself….but then the bride-to-be utters those famous last words, “I don’t want anything tacky, just some sort of a classy hen party, something relaxing”. Now your challenge seems near impossible, and you turn to Google searching for “classy hen do inspiration” and “relaxing hen party ideas”, do such things exist?
We’re here to tell you that, yes it is possible, and answer your classy hen party prayers.
We have welcomed many a hen party who chose to celebrate with a few days away in yurt land, and we now feel like experts on hen party ideas.
We promise that you’ll return home relaxed and refreshed, proclaiming to anyone who will listen that a classy hen do really is possible! Unless, of course, you want to bring a barrage of drinking games and willy straws, we can assure you that we’ve seen our fair share of that too!
Every good hen party consists of a few days away with a lovely group of girlies, and our yurts make for the perfect slumber party setting, think group camp out with the luxury of ready made beds and hot showers!
So you’ve found the ideal hen party location, what next?
We’ve complied a list of our top hen party activities, from the super zen to the slightly less relaxing.
A private hen party yoga session – For those of you planning to go full zen on the hen weekend, we can arrange for our lovely local yogi Sue Wood to come a run a relaxing hen party yoga session for your group.
Gin Making – gin making, gin tasting, just gin….gin is a good idea for any hen do, we’re lucky to have two fabulous local gin distilleries Two Birds Gin and Warner’s Distillery, where you can take a tour or try your hand at creating your own gin.
Afternoon tea – this has become a hen do classic and there’s a reason why….tea, cakes and scones….need we say more? We can deliver our homemade afternoon tea to your yurt, or you can venture off the site into our lovely local market town Market Harborough, where you’ll be able to get your afternoon tea fix in a number of the town’s quirky independent cafes.
Swim, swim, swim – if you just can’t resist the pull of a swim, sauna, steam and pamper, we’re located just 7 miles from the beautiful Rushton Hall, who offer day passes.
Silent Disco – Now, this is a genius idea! A few hen parties have done this in the yurts. Your own private party, and a chance to have a good dance with the girls, without overpriced drinks or onlookers. You can hire the silent disco equipment (one group used a London based company called The Silent Disco Company) or if you fancy doing it on a budget, bring your own headphones and create playlists full of surprises for each other to listen to.
Scavenger Hunts – whether you hide photos, gifts or clues, the hiding places surrounding our site are endless, perfect for hunting and scavenging, or, if you choose, embarrassing the bride to be!
Chocolate Making Workshop – if your bride to be is a chocoholic (aren’t we all at heart?) this is the perfect activity! Local chocolatiers, Explore Chocolate, are about 20 minutes down the road and run a range of amazing chocolate making courses.
A little decoration goes along way – from handmade bunting, to a path lined with colourful pom poms and paper hearts, our hens have certainly excelled when it comes to decorating the yurts, and surrounding areas. .
