At the beginning of October, we hosted our first yoga retreat.
It was brilliant! The retreat was run by Sue Wood, a wonderful local yogi who is passionate about wellbeing and the outdoors. 11 guests spent 1 night with us and took part in the relaxing and fun activities. What a great way to spend the weekend, right? Yoga, yurt camping, firepits and a hot tub. Not to mention incredible vegan food (more about that in a moment).
The group started their yoga and yurt retreat with vegan tea and cake on arrival. Then, once settled in, they strolled over to Great Oxendon village hall for their first yoga session. As they were out, the sun went down, the fires were lit, and all the fairy lights came on at Country Bumpkin Yurts. They arrived back to an almost other-worldly sight. Who knew yurt camping could be so pretty in the dark.
Numinums catered for the weekend and created the most delicious vegan food. The guests soon sat down for their candlelit dinner of butternut squash curry. There were ‘ummms’ of tasty approval all-round. No wonder they are called ‘numinums’. We would highly recommend these fantastic caterers. Becca was so friendly and produced an array of unbelievably mouth-watering delights – all in our small kitchen!
The weekend continued with further yoga sessions, country walks along the Brampton Valley Way, and treatments by local beauticians and therapists. Of course, there was also the extra fun that comes with staying on a glamping site with a hot tub. After dinner, it was time to pop open a bottle (or two) or bubbly and unwind in the steaming hot tub under the full moon. Yurt camping can be very glamorous.
It was a retreat for the whole mind, body and soul.
Yurt camping in the UK is a great way to relax and get back to nature – even more so when it is used as a setting for events such as yoga. There is something about being immersed in green fields, billowing trees and the noises of animals that resonates deep within us. It calls us to a place of peace. This is why we champion going outdoors.
The yoga retreat was a great success so there are plans to host plenty more. Would you like to take part in Sue’s next yoga retreat at Country Bumpkin Yurts?
“You are warmly invited to my overnight women only Spring Equinox yoga retreat! Sometimes we have to be away from home to give ourselves the permission to really relax. Staying in luxurious yurts in beautiful countryside away from any hustle and bustle we will celebrate the vernal equinox (equal length of day and night) and welcome in the start of Spring.” – Sue
